Inquiries & Mechanics

Direct answers on how an inquiry is scored, what the $8 membership opens, and what a portrait is allowed to mean.

Taking an inquiry

What is true16?

A four-axis personality profile. You respond to candid prompts across a five-point spectrum, and your answers resolve into a character portrait across all four axes. Your scores are free. The complete written dossier is $8 a month.

How long does the test take?

The four-part profile comprises 48 everyday statements across four paired axes and takes roughly ten to twelve minutes. Step away whenever you like; your progress waits in the same browser tab.

Do I need an account?

No. You can complete any inquiry and read your archetype and full vector breakdown without registering. Sign in afterwards and that portrait is already waiting in your private archive. Membership opens the written dossier.

Can I recalibrate or retake an inquiry?

At any time. Begin a fresh sitting from your portrait or from the codex. A portrait reflects the sitting that produced it, and it will shift when your answers shift.

Is this the same as Myers-Briggs or 16Personalities?

No. true16 is an independent four-axis self-reflection profile written for this site, and it keeps every competing axis score visible beside your dominant pole rather than collapsing you into a single box.

What a portrait means

Is this a psychological or clinical diagnosis?

No. The true16 four-part profile is an original self-reflection instrument about everyday habits of thought, decision-making, and work. It is not a clinical questionnaire and cannot tell you whether you have a medical or psychological condition. If you might act on thoughts of suicide, or you are in immediate danger, call or text 988 in the US, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 in Australia, or find a helpline for your country at findahelpline.com.

What is free?

Your dominant stance on each of the four axes and the complete percentage breakdown across all eight poles are permanently free. Membership adds the complete written dossier: how your four axes combine at work, how they shape closeness, and the blind spots to watch for.

Can I use a portrait for hiring or admissions?

No. A portrait is a reading of the prompts you just answered and nothing more. It is not a hiring screen, an admissions instrument, or a measure of anyone's worth.

Who can use the site?

You must be at least 16. If you are under 18, use the site alongside a parent or guardian.

Membership

What does it cost?

Every inquiry and every vector score is permanently free. The complete written dossier is $8 a month, locked at that rate for as long as you remain a member. There is no trial and no introductory trap. Checkout states the price again before you pay.

How do I cancel?

Use Unsubscribe in the header while signed in. A single click stops the next charge—no call and no waiting period. Your dossiers stay open through the close of the cycle you already paid for, after which the account returns to the free tier.

Can I get a refund?

A charge taken after a cancellation, or a duplicate charge for the same cycle, is refunded. Write to us through the contact page with the email on the account and the date of the charge. A cycle in which you opened your dossiers is not refunded automatically. The full terms sit on the refund page.

How do I pay?

Stripe runs our encrypted checkout. Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and every other method enabled on the account appear automatically when this browser supports them. We never store your card number.

Your archive and privacy

Do you keep my answers?

An unfinished inquiry stays in this browser until you complete it, restart it, or close the tab. Scoring happens on our server, and we do not retain a copy of each individual response. An account holds your email, a password hash, your membership status, and the portraits you complete while signed in.

Do you sell data or run ads?

No. We never sell personal data, and we run no advertising or analytics cookie of any kind. A single login cookie keeps you signed in. The particulars sit on the privacy page and the cookie page.

How do I delete my account?

Use Delete account on the account page and type your email to confirm. An active membership is cancelled first. You can also export a complete copy of your archive from that page before you go.

What is the confirmation email for?

It verifies the address. The link stays valid for 24 hours, and you can use your account and check out before you open it. After that we write to you about your account, and about new inquiries only if you asked us to.

I forgot my password.

Use the forgot-password page and we will email a reset link. You can also sign in from an emailed link without typing a password at all.
