About true16
A clearer mirror for the four axes you already live by.

true16 is a four-axis inquiry into ordinary life: how you recharge your energy, take in information, weigh a hard call, and structure your time. You answer honestly. You leave with a portrait of your dominant stance across all four axes—and every runner-up score right beside it.

Our mission
A portrait you recognize immediately, and can put to work this week.
The prize is not a four-letter label you are obliged to carry for life. It is the moment of recognition: seeing your dominant instinct on each axis named clearly, noticing where the opposite pole sits close behind it, and understanding the one blind spot your greatest strength quietly charges you.
Most typologies hand you an acronym and a generic flattering summary. We would rather describe the specific habit you reach for—how you prepare for a hard meeting, how you weigh fairness against hurt feelings, how you close an open loop—with enough clarity that you can try the opposite move on Thursday and watch what changes.

Our ethos
Why we show all eight poles
An assessment earns your time when you can finish it in one sitting, read the result without a glossary, and see the full shape of your scores.

48 statements in one sitting
Twelve unhurried minutes across four paired axes. No registration, no timer, and no trick prompts. Step away mid-test and your place waits for you in this browser tab.

Plain language, not a four-letter cipher
You respond across a five-point spectrum from Disagree to Agree. What comes back is a profile in plain English—With people vs. On your own, Concrete detail vs. The pattern—rather than a code you need a glossary to decode.

Both poles stay on the page
Traditional type tests hide the losing side of every axis, making a 51% lean look identical to a 95% lean. We keep all eight scores visible so you can spot a decisive preference or a genuine balance.

A limit we state plainly
A profile is not a clinical diagnosis, a hiring screen, or a permanent box. The dossier maps how your habits show up at work and with people you love, and the one cost your default stance charges you.

Who we are
We write the profile. We are equally candid about what it is not.
The four-part profile on true16 is an original instrument written from scratch for this site. We write the 48 statements, score the four paired axes, and compose the written dossiers in a single plainspoken voice.
It is not the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and it is not affiliated with 16Personalities or NERIS Analytics. We do not publish invented population percentages or celebrity type lists, and we never treat a personality reflection as a clinical diagnosis.
The mechanism
How a portrait is composed
You can inspect the scoring before you begin. Nothing hides behind a proprietary acronym.
- 1. You rate 48 everyday statements
Six statements for each of the eight poles across Energy, Information, Decisions, and Structure. There is no timer and no wrong instinct.
- 2. We compare both sides of each axis
Every pole resolves to a percentage out of 100. Within each of the four pairs, we compare the two poles directly—and when they sit within 12 points of each other, we call out that you flex between both.
- 3. You read your profile
Your four-axis profile and all eight pole scores are permanently free. Membership, at $8 a month, opens the complete written dossier: how your four axes combine at work, in relationships, and under pressure.
Our promise
Your answers are not a product we sell.
We never sell your responses. An account holds your email, your membership status, and the profiles you complete while signed in. Card numbers stay with Stripe and never touch our servers. You can export your data or delete your account at any time.
true16 is not a medical service. If you might act on thoughts of suicide, or you are in immediate danger, call or text 988 in the US, call Lifeline on 13 11 14 in Australia, or find a helpline for your country at findahelpline.com.
