The Sanctuary Before the Room
9 Feb 2026
For some minds the real thinking is finished before anyone speaks. The meeting is where the thesis gets delivered and stress-tested, not where it gets discovered, and that distinction shapes how the room reads your silence.
Before, not during
If your real thinking is finished before the meeting, a live brainstorm can register as noise. You are not slow. You have already spent the cognition, and the room is asking you to spend it again, in public, at someone else’s tempo.
Deliver the conclusion early, then invite the room to dismantle it. Waiting until you are certain reads as silence, and silence is always filled by someone less prepared.
The fragmented day
A day of interruptions can cost more than a genuinely difficult problem. The problem is at least one thing. The interruptions are twenty separate beginnings. If that sentence is true of you, defend one unbroken block and tell people exactly when it is.
You can still be the person who helps. Helping on a published cadence is a different act from helping every time a chat window lights up.
Bring the scaffolding
If you think in solitude, carry something visible into the room: three lines, a sketch, one sharp question. People can react to an artifact. They cannot react to a thought you are still having.
The artifact does not have to be good. It has to be visible.
